D N A

Track Notes:
The song “D N A” actually pre-dates the band Bad Hat by four band members. The name of the song refers to the main chord progression – a D major chord and an A major chord. Bill was told, “Here, the song’s called ‘D N A,’ write lyrics to go with that.”

According to Bill, he went to the Poconos, drank a lot of alcohol, and penned the lyrics. The song is actually the story of him writing the song.

Lyrics:
I went up to the mountain To see beyond the trees
I took in all the scenery And I felt that gentle breeze
In my cloud of roses thoughts go in and out my head
Irrelevancy is my linchpin. Non sequitur is what she said.

Floating freely, painlessly, well I’ll feel my own mind, Think my think.
I wish I had something better to do – Someone get me another drink
You make no sense, can’t you see? Well, making sense is nonsense to me.
People say I’m sad, it seems. I’m not sad, I’m just wearin’ my b-b-b-blue jeans

Well, I’m a song and dance man tryin’ hard just to keep sane
While listenin’ to you bitch about how your life is so damn plain
Well, plainness can be painless you see, I, I don’t throw my emotions away
What do you mean, non sequitur? It’s just me making use of my D N A

Go!

Well I look inside myself and see an intestinal sea of tranquility
It fills my heart with great emotion, someone said, “Hey, let it be”
With my rosy outlook, I can brighten up your day
Just give it half a chance, I can drive those blues right away.

Well, stare into that big brown eye and see the new horizon
I haven’t had enough brain juice, I think I’ll try some bourbon
Life could be amazing, if you’d look at it my way
My molecules in overdrive, my psychedelic D N A

Weeeeeelllllllll
I went up to the mountain To see beyond the trees
I took in all the scenery And I felt that gentle breeze
In my cloud of roses thoughts go in and out my head
Irrelevancy is my linchpin. Non sequitur is what she said.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWW

(gibbering)

Moooooooooooouuuuuuuunnnnnnnntain.
