Grey Dawn

Track Notes:
Another original that originally appeared elsewhere, Grey Dawn was awarded “Best Honorable Mention: Original Song by a Local Band” by a local Philadelphia radio station in 1994. We were even invited to an award show, but nothing really came of it.
Lyrics:
As the charcoal sun sets
Upon the tear-stained landscape
I cry again

Well the heart a-flutters
Skips a beat, tunnel vision
I can’t control, wait for it to begin

Don’t hold back
Give it everything you’ve got
Try to overcome the aversion

All I see is tainted
But there’s still the time
To save the love that we once shared
Let’s have the last laugh on the world
And watch the Grey Dawn fill the sky
And our souls

Black ink on the canvas that is my life
Hateful words carved in with steely eyes
No remorse

The world is old, the light is dim
Loss of syncopation
Ambivalent towards the passion
What recourse?

I feel no pain, no sorrow
I feel no regrets
I see the chance
Redemption

All I see is tainted
But there’s still the time
To save the love that we once shared
Let’s have the last laugh on the world
And watch the Grey Dawn fill the sky
And our souls

Moon’s discolored by our reflection
Tell the world what has transpired
What almost became
Of the wonderment

We are once more whole
A love so strong
It’s almost painful
We had the last laugh

All I see, no longer tainted
World is new and light is burning
We saved our future from the great abyss
Watch the Grey Dawn fill the sky
And bring us all back to life
